Overview
Nom Nom Café is an original allergy-friendly, inclusive café brand and fully responsive website I created for my web design and usability course. This project is incredibly personal to me—it was my first fully designed and functional website, and I poured myself into every detail. Created to be playful, wholesome, and deeply user-centered, the café is designed not just as a place to order treats, but as a community space that celebrates people with allergies and food sensitivities with joy, empathy, and creativity.
My Role
UX/UI Designer, Illustrator, Visual Designer, Brand Strategist
I developed the full brand identity and designed the desktop, tablet, and mobile website experiences from scratch, with special emphasis on inclusivity, usability, and engagement.

Concept & Brand Vision
Nom Nom Café is more than a café—it’s a digital experience built around community, creativity, and care. From the branding to the functionality, every design choice was driven by the goal of making allergy-conscious customers feel safe, empowered, and included. I wanted it to feel like walking into a cozy, welcoming shop that knows your name, your needs, and your favorite cookie.
To bring this idea to life, I crafted a brand that’s visually playful and inviting, while still clean and highly navigable. The brand tone is warm, fun, and emotionally engaging, centered around a strong sense of personality and charm.
Key Features
The Nom Club – Rewards Program
I developed an imaginative loyalty program with tiered levels that reflect the baking process, encouraging engagement in a fun, narrative-driven way:
- Spoonful (A Spoonful of Flour)
- Rising Chip (Ball of Cookie Dough)
- Rookie Cookie (Baby Cookie)
- All-Star Cookie (The Ultimate Tier)
Each tier rewards customers for their interaction and purchases, while making the experience whimsical and rewarding.
Interactive Drink Creator – Gamified Ordering Experience
The crown jewel of the site is the customizable drink builder, which was designed to feel like a mini game. As users make choices for their drink—from base to flavor to toppings—the visual drink adjusts in real time, creating a sense of ownership and fun.
- Users can favorite their creation to reorder later
- Share buttons allow people to post their drinks and swap ideas, creating a playful social experience
- The flow ends with a sense of accomplishment, making customers feel creative and proud of their order
Quick Menu with Smart Filtering
For customers in a hurry, a full menu view is available. It includes:
- Bestsellers
- Personalized suggestions based on likes/dislikes
- Previous orders and favorites (if you’re in the Nom Club)
- A “something new to try” feature based on user preferences
“Want a Bite?” Feature
At checkout, users are asked if they “want a bite?”—prompting a curated list of bite-sized treat add-ons to complement their drink. This small moment adds warmth and gentle upselling without feeling pushy.
Flavor of the Month Voting
To further build a sense of community, I included a “Flavor of the Month” poll, where Nom Club members can vote between two flavors. The winner is then featured the following month with specialty drinks. This feature incentivizes membership and gives customers a voice in shaping the café’s offerings.
Challenges
This was an ambitious and emotionally meaningful project—my first time designing a fully functional website. I had to learn how to translate a big, playful concept into a smooth, responsive experience across devices. I also took on extensive research to understand allergy-friendly design, user behavior, accessibility best practices, and customer preferences in food service. I was determined to go all out—and I did.
Outcome
Nom Nom Café is one of my proudest projects. It’s a fully developed brand and digital experience that reflects my belief that design can be fun, inclusive, and human-centered. Every page, feature, and illustration was created with love—and with the goal of making every visitor feel welcome, seen, and excited to come back.
